What an excellent article Yvonne. Wish I hadn't been working I'd loved to have been there participating in the experiment. Could be a great workshop to run for those interested. It would be excellent in schools if we could get permission to run them, though I wouldn't hold my breath. I loathe the quota system we've developed. I fought for equality as a young feminist not this disgusting situation where rather than the best, most talented applicants we're getting racist, sexist criteria being applied in reverse in a patronising manner. its just another form of 'these people would never make it on their own, because really they're not good enough'. Some of my very successful Maori cousins fled NZ and now reside overseas because they were tired of people wondering if they really did it without extra help, ie getting into top university courses with lower grades. No they didn't. I'm starting to think Seymour is right on this one. Time for one rule for all.

As for Islam. Having read all the so called holy books for myself and visited the middle east to see I am utterly opposed to any form of it in Western democracies. Every country in the middle east, apart from Israel, has a form of dictatorship either religious, monarchical, or military and the fear in some countries was palpable as was the desperation of many. What really gets me is the stupidity of Western liberal so called feminists who will not criticise radical Islam in any way and won't talk about it because they might offend someone.

Watching Tousi tv on youtube, the channel Iranians watch, and seeing the absolute joy of the people but especially the young women at the hammering the disgusting regime is taking is a sight to behold. Last week I met an Iranian woman who was working in a business I went to. She said she had been crying for 56 days- her 17 year old nephew had been shot through the eye protesting on the streets of Tehran by the IRGC- but now she was smiling because she could see the end of a despotic and frankly evil regime.

I'd follow the French and ban the burka and the hijab too and get rid of the integrated Islamic schools here. I don't want my taxes paying to brainwash students into another cult. If they don't want to integrate then don't immigrate.

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Agree with all this. I'd also like to restrict immigrants from Islamic countries. And tell those who are here that they are expected to integrate and share our values. If not, there are over 50 Islamic countries they can go to. It's beyond naive to be anything else other than assertive in the face of such a strong hostile ideology

Tony Richards's avatar

Well said Chris totally agree, thank you.

Very well summed up Chris. Most of the lefty woke fucktards who cry 'Israeli genocide' have no idea about the Middle East and have never been there. Anyone who knows anything about Islam should be able to see it for what it is. By its fruits it shall be known, and the fruit of that tree is pretty fucking sour if you ask me.

I tend to agree with your last point but we have integrated Christian schools too and to be consistent, their funding should be stopped too. But can you imagine that happening?

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

No; I don't agree. Our society is built on a Judeo-Christian foundation which has given us this secular liberal democracy. Islam is hostile to just about everything we value. I think we should have more self-confidence and assert our right to say 'this is how things are here. If you don't like it, fine. You don't have to stay.' We do not have to be tolerant of the intolerant.

I'd agree with you on that too. No it's too entrenched now.

Blame Bolger for that. As a devout catholic he was approached by a panicked church. Their school system was in danger of collapse because Rome wasn't prepared to fund them fully and the fees were becoming unaffordable for the parents. Bingo lets get the rest of society to pay for the brainwashing, and of course it suited all the other churches too. Ironically they still charge eye watering fees and the public pays the RE teachers salaries. The RE dept being the biggest in the school of course.

Ironically though, a lot of those schools are holding the line, well mostly, on the woke trans nonsense.

However regardless of the above, Islam is not compatible with the west and I don't feel any need to be even handed about a religion recently imported, in fact I don't think we need to be even handed about anything, when the stated aim is forcing the whole world to convert to a primitive and barbaric worldview.

I'm now unapologetically very hardline on the threat it poses to secular Western democracy.

Sheryl White's avatar

So am I. Good on you Chris for speaking up like this.

Rex Landy's avatar

Nah, we're founded on Christian principles. Don't like it? They can fuck off to one of the 50+ muslim countries and practise their woman-hating child raping cousinfucking cult there. #Fuckislam

Max Ritchie's avatar

A bit too robust, Rex, but minus the strong words you are quite right.

Just Boris's avatar

I reckon she got it just about right tbh…😉

Just Boris's avatar

Indeed Rex. Whether folk buy into the whole God/Jesus gig (which Boris does) or not, all folk living in western democracies should thank their lucky stars for Christianity. As you suggest, anyone who does not fully appreciate the countless blessings of the Christian message should fuck right off to try the alternatives out there.

That is a distraction and not germsne to the argument. State schools have been providing prayer rooms since 1990s. Airports have them. Xty is not 'out to takeover' Islam IS.

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Do schools really have prayer room? Bloody hell. We shouldn't be so craven and acquiescent.

Noel Reid's avatar

Yvonne, you ended with "Now you can call me names."

How about this one:

Brilliant!

Katrina Biggs's avatar

I no longer care what names I'm called, either. It's like water off this ol' duck's back now :-) The Woke-Left devolved to name-calling as a weapon, in lieu of a coherent argument, for so long that the names have become meaningless. Silly buggers still haven't caught on, though - lol!

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Oh yes, so that's why Peter B dismissed me and the two English tourists pretty darn quickly. We had different views but we held them strongly and were 'not for turning'.It's probably a game that works best with younger more uncertain folk.

Linzey's avatar

We have to start forming quiet armies who are truly ready to take up weapons and cause bloodshed when the time comes, or we will be subsumed in the coming tsunami...

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Gulp. I'm a sook. I'll stick to talking but I do agree we do have to be prepared to fight for our culture. Forget tolerance, forget appeasing, forget feeble sentiments like 'education' and 'kindness'. We need to be confident and proud and ready to say NO in no uncertain terms.

J.M.Venning's avatar

I block so many nutters and trolls on fbk daily now. Am a 'black and white' person on issues which I know, have researched and do not bow to woke. My walking stick is a useful aid these days!

Rex Landy's avatar

Fuck islam. It's a desert death cult of woman hating kidfuckers that also rape goats and marry their cousins.

Go to one of the 50+ inbred muslim countries if you want to practise that shit. We are a Christian-founded country and islam is incompatible with civilised society.

Just Boris's avatar

Interesting Yvonne. I have watched many of Peter's Street Epistemology clips and found them quite interesting, but very much sad watching. Sad because the woke answers from many participants made me realise they just had not a single fucking clue about reality. (He did interview a smart woman from Brazil once who lambasted anyone who did not accept the sex binary which was good though! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfIRTqs45sU)

Anyway, yes, Islam is a THE biggest menace facing what we dare call 'the civilised world'. Well, not for long if our leaders don't grow a spine, quickly. The IDF and Trump are on the front line against this menace, yet both are continually derided by MSM.

Boris would be a hopeless participant cos his mind is firmly made up on most of this stuff. Simply cos he is smart and knows that if a Jihadi arsehole says he wants to establish a worldwide caliphate and kill all the infidel, then Boris believes him.

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Absolutely Boris. I share your concerns about Islam but I have a feeling most NZers are either naive or unaware about this dangerous ideology. I'm super concerned about us importing Muslims. As for msm - clueless fruitcakes, so clueless they don't even know how out of touch they are. One of the statements we had to respond to in Street Epistemology was "Trump would be a better prime minister than Chris Luxon." I'll leave you to guess how I responded.

Linde Rose's avatar

You are a brave woman and a leader to us all in that. Total support.

Sheryl White's avatar

Great article Yvonne. I'm not clear though whether Peter took the Islamist threat seriously. And not sure why you thought you'd be called names. I have a sense that your readers wouldn't be surprised about your thoughts on Islam. I'm not and agree with you wholeheartedly. I'd say same if the subject were to come up amongst my acquaintances. You've made me think about canvassing the people I do mix with - getting a conversation going and raising awareness. Probably good to do some reading -Ayaan Hirsi Ali has written books about the Islamist threat hasn't she?

I'm reminded that Sam Harris has been warning about the intentions of Islam towards the West, or the "infidels", for years and been reviled for it.

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

Sheryl, I made a fairly restrained comment on islam on another group fb page and was told my views were racist! Also in the UK and elsewhere, it appears politicians and public figures are afraid to be honest about the threat posed by Islam for fear of being called racist/ Islamophobic- or losing votes. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is terrific and courageous in her condemnation of an ideology that led to the death of her friend, Theo van Gogh, and vowed to come after her too. I'd like to get ahead of the threat for NZ and start an honest conversation, knowing what utter wusses we are and how much we love to be seen as 'good' people.

Sheryl White's avatar

That's a good point - getting ahead of the threat. I wonder what would be a good way to approach it. Im thinking that the people in my small town won't even have been thinking about it, and wonder what I'm talking about.

Yvonne van Dongen's avatar

For me it's stretching the limits of what is acceptable and what is offensive to discuss in polite company. I try to introduce topics or ideas I know will be confronting for some people (I guess I'm talking mainly women). Also it's worth addressing women's innate desire for conformity and agreeableness. It would be good to learn to disagree or perhaps discuss contentious issues in an honest, robust way.

J.M.Venning's avatar

Hagley instituted its prayer room in 1990s and also the boys were allowed to go to mosque Fridays.

Katrina Biggs's avatar

I did one of these 'street' epistemologies the last time Peter Boghossian was here, where my stance was that men can never be women. Peter stopped it after a short time, as he could see that I was NEVER going to change my mind - haha. Here's a 1 min clip of it.

For forty years in my professional life have been interacting with muslim groups.. I supported pupils victims of FGM. I helped a Jordanian Sunni family establish a safe base after injuries from mosque atracks. I intervened when a woman colleague was told she should be stoned to death ( by an imam for incorrect cover of hair)

I am very aware ( including from Prey by Ayasn Hirsi Ali) of the rapes and murders throughout Europe by muslims and in my own environs of the misogyny and of the inroads especially by imams...of the msm kowtowing, the hijab wearung police and top officer and it is an unsafe situation. Halting immigration? Too hard. Assimilation...not happening.
